Thanks so much to everyone who has sent pictures of their creations. I love seeing the flamenco costumes people make in all parts of the world using Flamenco Dressmaking patterns. Especially the batas de cola make me really proud.
While making a bata de cola does not require advanced sewing skills, there is a lot of fabric to deal with, many meters of ruffles to make and attach to a large and increasingly heavy skirt. It is not a quick, one afternoon project; sewing a bata de cola takes effort and patience.
That’s why I am so excited to see that you have a go and create some really stunning pieces. And I know that some of you have just taken up sewing while others have years of experience.
Love to See Some Work in Progress Pics?
I’m always fascinated with how things are made. But I don’t usually take a lot of photos while I’m working, so unless I am preparing a tutorial I don’t have much to share with you on that front.
If you’d love to get a peek behind the scenes you are in luck:
Olivia Chacón from Austin, Texas, organized a Bata de Cola Sewing class for students of her dance studio Flamencura Music and Dance.
Click here to see the Facebook event and get inspired by the beautiful batas de cola these ladies have made. Note the beautiful venue – it is the Austin School of Fasion Design. And, just in case you were wondering – having a dog or a cat to is not mandatory but definitely helps..
